Portrait of Royal Bengal Tiger (Panthera tigris tigris)

The Royal Bengal Tiger is a masterpiece of evolutionary engineering. While they possess excellent hearing and a sharp sense of smell, they rely most heavily on their vision, which is six times more powerful than a human's in the dark. Their whiskers are not just hair; they are sophisticated sensory organs that detect minute changes in air pressure and vibrations, helping the tiger navigate tight spaces and gauge the distance to their prey in total darkness. To remain undetected, they have soft, sensitive padding on their paws that allows them to move silently through dense leaf litter.
