The black drongo (Dicrurus macrocercus), known as the "King Crow," is a glossy black bird native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Easily identified by its deeply forked tail and defiant upright posture, it typically perches on power lines in open agricultural landscapes. Despite its small size, it is incredibly brave, fearlessly attacking larger predators like hawks to protect its nesting territory. As a masterful aerial hunter, the drongo performs agile maneuvers to capture insects mid-flight. It is also a skilled mimic, capable of imitating various bird calls to deceive others or communicate within its habitat.
