Indian Boar (Sus scrofa cristatus), Ranthambore National Park
The Indian boar (Sus scrofa cristatus), also known as the Andamanese or Moupin pig, is a powerful and large subspecies of wild boar native to India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Standing up to 90 cm at the shoulder and weighing between 90 kg and 135 kg, it is distinguished from its European cousins by a more prominent, bristly mane that runs from its neck down its back—hence the name cristatus (crested). It also features a straighter tail and a more streamlined skull.
