Northern Plains Gray Langur (Semnopithecus entellus)
In the wild, Hanuman langurs are the forest’s most vigilant sentinels. From their high-altitude perches, they monitor the forest floor with keen eyesight. When a predator is spotted, they emit a series of loud, rhythmic barking alarm calls, a signal that is respected and acted upon by almost every other herbivore in the jungle, from the tiny barking deer to the massive sambar.
