Jungle Cat (Felis Chaus)

The Jungle Cat (Felis chaus), also known as the swamp cat or reed cat, is a medium-sized wild felid native to the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Despite its name, it avoids dense rainforests, preferring wetlands, reed beds, and tall grasslands. It is distinguished by its long legs, short tail, and black-tipped ear tufts, which give it a lynx-like appearance. Its unspotted coat ranges from sandy-grey to reddish-brown, providing perfect camouflage in dry scrub. Notably diurnal, these cats are agile hunters and proficient swimmers, often diving into water to catch fish. They also perform impressive vertical leaps to snatch birds mid-air.
