The Indian Boar (Sus scrofa cristatus), also known as the Moupin Pig, is a robust subspecies of wild boar native to the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. It is distinguished from its European relatives by a more prominent, bristly mane that forms a crest along its spine, and a straighter, more pointed skull. Adults are covered in coarse, greyish-black hair and possess relatively small, sharp ears. Adults measure from 84 to 91 cm in shoulder height and 152 cm in body length. Weight ranges from 91 to 136 kg. These omnivorous "ecological engineers" use their sensitive snouts to root for tubers, seeds, and insects.
