Asian Green Bee-Eater (Merops Orientalis)

The Asian green bee-eater (Merops orientalis) is a bird species in the bee-eater family. It is widely distributed across the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Easily identified by its brilliant emerald-green plumage, it features a thin black "necklace" and a distinct black line through its reddish-brown eyes. Its most striking feature is the pair of long, needle-like central tail streamers. The Asian green bee-eater is 16-18 cm long excluding the elongated central tail-feathers, which are an additional 7 cm long.
