The Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a lively, vocal songbird native to the Indian subcontinent. It is easily identified by its scaly brown plumage, a small black crest that gives its head a "square" appearance, and a conspicuous crimson patch under its tail. A white rump and white-tipped tail are also visible during its bouncy, undulating flight. Adaptable and bold, these birds thrive in gardens, parks, and scrublands, often living in close proximity to humans. They are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, nectar, and insects. It is included in the list of the world's 100 worst invasive alien species.
