The Purple-rumped Sunbird (Leptocoma zeylonica) is a tiny, energetic nectar-feeder endemic to the Indian subcontinent. Measuring less than 10 cm, it displays striking sexual dimorphism. The male is a jewel-toned marvel with a metallic green crown, a dark maroon back, and a vibrant purple rump that glistens in the sunlight. In contrast, the female is more subdued, featuring olive-brown upperparts and a pale yellow underside with a distinct whitish throat. these sunbirds are common in urban gardens and orchards.
