The lesser whitethroat (Curruca curruca) is a small, elusive warbler native to temperate Europe and Western Asia. Measuring roughly 13 cm, it is distinguished by its slate-grey head and dark ear coverts, which create a characteristic "bandit mask" contrasting against its bright white throat. Unlike its cousin, the common whitethroat, it lacks chestnut wing patches and possesses dark grey legs.
