At 452 meters, it was the highest outdoor observation deck in the world when it opened (it was surpassed in 2011 by Cloud Top 488 on the Canton Tower, Guangzhou). Burj Khalifa opened the 148th floor SKY level at 555 meters, once again giving it the highest observation deck in the world in 2014. Subsequently, in 2019, the Burj Khalifa also opened The Lounge observatory at 584 meters - the highest lounge in the world (in 2016 the Shanghai Tower opened with an observation deck at a height of 561 meters, thus taking the title of the world's highest observation deck).
