Syracuse (Italian: Siracusa) is a historic city (2700 years old) in Sicily. It is the capital of the province of Syracuse and is located in the southeast corner of the island of Sicily, right by the Gulf of Syracuse next to the Ionian Sea.
Ortygia (Italian: Ortigia) is a little island and it is the historical center of the city of Syracuse. The island, also known as Città Vecchia (Old City), contains many historical landmarks.
