Temple E was dedicated to Hera (equivalent to the roman Juno), goddess of fertility, protectress of lovers, marriage, and pregnant women. Built around 470/460 BC by Doric Greeks that colonized Sicily, was destroyed by the Carthaginians in 409 BC
