Madagascar Giant Swallowtail, Avenue of the Baobabs, Menabe, Madagascar

The Madagascar giant swallowtail (Pharmacophagus antenor), as the common name implies, is large (12-14 cm wingspan) and endemic to Madagascar. It has velvety-black wings dotted with cream-colored spots, touched with rust or brick-red at the tail of the hindwings, which trail long drop-shaped tails.
