Ankanin'Nofy Reserve is located on a peninsula in eastern Madagascar, the name means “the nest of dreams”. The reserve is better known under its second name “Palmarium”. The reserve is located directly on Lake Ampitabe, about 60 km south of the city of Toamasina (Tamatave). However, there is no overland route to reach it. The last kilometers can only be covered by boat via Pangalanes Canal. The palmarium covers 0.5 sq-km and is home to the lowland rainforest and various lakes. Indris, black and white ruffed lemurs, crowned and black lemurs and red-bellied lemurs are among the curious inhabitants of the reserve.
