Ranakpur is a historical and spiritual place located in Pali district of Rajasthan, which is especially famous for its Jain temples. Ranakpur is mainly famous for the Jain temple built in the 15th century, which is known for its amazing architecture of marble carvings and 1444 pillars. The temple (also called Chaturmukha Dharana Vihara), as well as the nearby town of Ranakpur, are named after Rana Kumbha, the provincial ruler monarch, who approved and supported the construction of the temple. The temple is dedicated to Rishabhanatha, the first tirthankara (Supreme preacher) of Jainism. He was the first of twenty-four teachers in the present half-cycle of time in Jain cosmology.
