The Indian Cormorant (Phalacrocorax fuscicollis), also known as the Indian Shag, is a medium-sized water bird native to the inland waters of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Often found in rivers, lakes, and marshes, it is distinguished by its sleek, bronze-brown plumage and striking vibrant blue eyes. Unlike the smaller Little Cormorant, it has a more sloping forehead and a long, narrow bill with a hooked tip. These birds are highly gregarious, often fishing in large communal groups to drive fish into shallows. After diving, they are frequently seen perched on branches with their wings spread wide to dry.
