The "Kirchensäge"(church saw mill), or later to be known as Schüttersäge, was in operation from 1491 until 1931 and was the oldest of four sawmills n Schiltach. The waterwheel which is fed from below has a diameter of 6.30 m is one of the biggest in working order in Germany.
