Great Forecourt, Temple of Amun-Re, Karnak

In the center of this first court are the ruins of the kiosk of Taharqa (690-664 BCE). Only one column (middle ground, right) remains in place (in front of Second Pylon), bearing inscriptions by Taharqa, Psamtik II and Ptolemy IV Philopator. In order to construct the kiosk of Taharqa, the ram-sphinx corridor was removed and the statues moved to the edges of the open court.
