Castel Principe (Fürstenburg), Burgusio (Burgeis), South Tyrol, Italy
Castel Principe (Fürstenburg) is a medieval castle located in village Burgusio (Burgeis) at the municipality of Malles (Mals), Val Venosta (Vinschgau) in South Tyrol. The castle is located in the middle of the valley, at an altitude of 1200 m and is located just below the magnificent white abbey of Monte Maria. The building was erected between 1272 and 1282, and has a single square tower. In 1952 it was decided to reconstruct the castle, due to the sudden collapse of the tower of the fortress in 1996 the entire site had to be renovated.
