Durlassboden Water Reservoir, Gerlos, Schwaz, Tyrol, Austria

Approximately ten square kilometers in area, the Durlassboden is part of the Gerlos hydroelectric group in Zillertal, with a water capacity of some 50 million cubic meters. Located at an elevation of around 1405 meters, a dam wall measuring 450 m in length and 83 m in height gives the reservoir a truly imposing character. This extraordinary reservoir went into operation in 1967, from which time it began to become a popular excursion destination.
